Here are the rules for hunter ranks just so you get a clue.
1. You will start at hunter rank 1. You will be a beginner with beginner goods and beginner armor/weapons.
2. You will rise in ranks slowly, to get to the second rank you will have to finish at least 5 quests. If you repeat a quest after just finishing it it will not count. Choose another quest then go back to that one. Bonus points if you actually complete all the quests for your level.
3. Quests, you will need to pay a fee to go on them then you will get the fee back upon completion, along with rewards for completing the main quest, and 2 sub-quests.
4. The max hunter rank will be 50. For every 10 ranks you will have access to a higher grade monsters, areas, equipment, and tamable beasts.
