Barroth
The Barroth is a newly introduced monster appearing in Monster Hunter 3 and is a part of the new class Brute Wyvern. It will occasionally roll in dirt and mud, possibly to cool off from the hot desert sun.
When it awakens from its subterranean slumber it will shake off all of the excess mud and dirt that gathers on its back, and if a hunter is close enough to it the excess earth that flies off will become attached to the hunter and will quickly dry due to the desert heat, causing the new status effect called "Muddy", which slows down the hunters movements and disables their use of items for a short period of time, making them an easy target for the Barroth to charge at.
When hit by mud, hunters also experience waterblight, but stamina is not lost for sprinting. After the Barroth has shaken off most of its mud, it will roll around in muddy water to collect more.
A Barroth frequently charges down pillars where Altaroth make their nests and then feeds on the ants that dwell within. It also regains stamina from eating at small mounds. When the Barroth throws its head in the ground to charge a hunter, it will turn to face the hunter, making it difficult to avoid. When low on stamina, Barroth will charge slower than usual.
Uragaan
Uragaan is a large mineral covered Brute Wyvern that resides in volcanic areas. The monster was introduced in Monster Hunter 3. Its back is lined with hard crystals and its chin is plated with a rock-like shell, suggesting the Uragaan has evolved a tough exterior due to life in volcanic regions. It is also able to eat rocks in order to regain its stamina.
Uragaan's signature ability is to roll its body into a wheel to increase its speed and agility. It will do this often in an attempt to crush the hunter. Uragaan may conduct either a short roll, or a longer one where it may circle back for another stab at the hunter. It can also produce a gas, much like Gravios, that will put Hunters to sleep or can inflict fireblight; the effect depends on the color, ghost-blue or red respectively. Uragaan's body shape is also similar to Barroth's body shape, as they are both Brute Wyverns. Uragaan will use it's large jaw to attack, primarily by slamming it into the ground. It may also attack with a wide tail sweep, which flings large, explosive rocks into the area. If this has been done, the next time Uragaan uses a heavy jaw smash, all explosive rocks in the area will explode. Uragaan may burrow into the volcanic rock (only in Area 6). After a short pause, the Uragaan will appear on the lower slope and proceed to roll down at immense speed, if you stand just on the entrances to of the area you will not get hit. Uragaan will circle the area twice before finishing its roll near the middle of the area. This attack is rather quick and erratic.
Deviljho
Deviljho, informally known by various nicknames, is classified as a Brute Wyvern. It can only be fought online and is very powerful. It primarily attacks using its powerful jaw and large tail. In rage mode, it will draw a breath of 'Dragon Element', which can inflict Dragonblight. Hunters caught in the stream will find their weapon's affinity dramatically reduced. Because of its high body heat, Deviljho becomes hungry very often and is in constant search of a food source.
