Tigrex
With its highly aggressive nature belying its intelligence, Tigrex are Pseudowyverns that naturally inhabit the deserts and migrate to the Snowy Mountains to feast on Popo. They are visibly recognizable by the orange-yellow skin with blue stripes. Their wings have evolved into forelegs, which makes them very fast, but they only fly when moving to another zone. When coming from a high area, they drop straight down, rather than slowly hovering down like most wyverns. When they dont see the hunter however, they might slowly hover down.
Nargacuga
Nargacuga is the main, and flagship, monster of Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. It looks vaguely similar to the Tigrex, (the flagship monster of Monster Hunter Freedom 2), but fights in a significantly different way.
It has black scales, wings, and fur; red wing webbing, and nightmarish red eyes, giving it the look and style of a predatory black panther. Its dark, feral appearance suggests that it may mainly be a nocturnal hunter. This wyvern has been sighted within the Great Forest at night and daytime, Jungle, and also the Old Swamp. When it's in rage mode its eyes glow bright red and leave a trail of reddish yellow lines when Nargacuga moves. Also, its tail erects large spikes which can be fired and linked up with its attacks for devastating hits. Their vertebrae and tail muscles are extremely flexible, making the tail of Nargacuga also prehensile. Its tail is also its most powerful weapon. The scales at the end of the tail can also be shaken to produce rattling sounds similar to a rattle snake's. Hunters can often hear its tail rattle before it hurls spikes, or slams its tail down.
Like Akantor, they are surprised by the shock of sound (Sonic Bombs, Barrel Bombs, etc.) which will make them enter rage mode as soon as they recover.
If Narga's tail has been damaged enough, it can only be cut off during in a state of rage. Like the Tigrex, Narga's face can be broken, as can its cutting wings.
Akantor
Akantor is one of the most powerful monsters encountered in Monster Hunter Freedom 2. It has powerful forelimbs, thick spikes, a clawed tail, and large tusks. It is the "final boss" of Monster Hunter Freedom 2; it is unlocked after completing the High Rank Shen Gaoren urgent quest. Japanese title is literally "Supreme Monster".
Ukanlos
The Ukanlos is an ice monster and opposite to Akantor. It flings up chunks of ice with its serrated Shovel-chin and can attack with an ice beam. It crushes through ice plates as it swims. Despite its specimen class, it does not have noticeable wings or vestigial webbings, differentiating it from other pseudowyverns.
Giggi
Giggi are small worm-like larvae of the Gigginox.
Spawning from large, organic globules in dark caves, they exhibit unique behavior. When the torch is drawn, they retreat in fear; however, when the torch is extinguished, they slowly follow hunters and latch onto them, constantly draining "blood", doing damage similar to the poison effect, and must be "shaken" off. If Giggis sucked a significant amount of health off the victim, it will be able to do a poison spit. Giggis are a pain when gathering resources or fighting other monsters.
Gigginox
Gigginox are wyvern that live in the caves of Monster Hunter 3's Tundra area. They are related to the Khezu, in that they are a cave dwelling Wyvern. However, they don't sense prey with their nose; Gigginox have a special organ that can detect the body heat of their prey.
They can also attach to the ceilings of caves like the Khezu. In this position they can do a unique attack where they will drag the hunter underneath themselves, then drop down and slowly consume the hunter unless freed by his own effort or with the aid of fellow hunters. A Dung Bomb will instantly free a trapped ally.
Gigginox are wide and very flat, unlike the Khezu which is bulky and has large fat reserves. Their top skin is sickly grey-white, and their under-skin is dark red. When in rage mode a Gigginox's top color will change to black. Their head, tail and chest marks are white but have eye-like sections that glow purple when inside dark areas; these markings can also be broken. Gigginox have a circular, leech-like mouth, which contains many sharp teeth. Gigginox are quadrupedal, like the Tigrex and Nargacuga.
They can spit poison or release it as a form of gas from pores under their body. Gigginox can excrete gelatinous globs that spawn young Giggi or explode into a cloud of poisonous spores. They also produce a powerful roar for which the only way to counter it is to possess High-Grade Earplugs, or block it with a shield.
Barioth
Barioth is a large, saber-toothed pseudowyvern that makes its first appearance in Monster Hunter 3. It's reasonably fast and can attack wildly, representing a real challenge to even experienced hunters. It loosely resembles a Nargacuga/Tigrex in body shape, and (also like Nargacuga) it has many big cat-like characteristics. Barioth can hover in place much like the Kushala Daora, suggesting that its wings must be much stronger than other Pseudowyverns, which use their wings just to go from zone to zone. It inhabits a snowy area called the Tundra.
Barioth's attacks include leaping at the hunter and hitting them with its tail or claws. It can also fire what appears to be a windy blast that forms into a twister (which causes Iceblight). Most of the battle between the hunter and Barioth will be constantly either blocking and attacking or dodging and attacking.
Pariapuria
Pariapuria is a four-legged Amphibious monster that live in the mainly in the watery caves of the Gorge. Pariapuria was created during Monster Hunter Frontier's 5.0 update. It has a long blue tongue and a long tail used for propelling itself in water. Pariapuria is a glutton, continuously eating anything around it; eating too much makes him vomit.
Dyuragaua
Dyuragaua (デュラガウア) is a new ice-element Pseudowyvern featured in the Monster Hunter Frontier 8.0 update. The Dyuragaua was discovered making a nest in the Old Tower ruins, suggesting it may have avoided human contact for a long time. It is only because of the recent discovery of its Nest Hole that Dyuragaua was forced out of hiding. Dyuragaua has the typical body structure of a "Pseudowyvern". In rage mode, Dyuragaua's tail, arms, and face will be clad in ice. Sharp icy spikes will also protrude out of its tail. When it attacks in rage mode, it can inflict a new status effect called "Frostbite" (凍傷). When in rage, it can do a flip attack which smashes its tail into the ground, causing a shockwave of Sleep. The tail cannot be cut, but the spikes on it can be broken (only in rage).
